Textiles
The most widespread and important of Welsh rural industries was that of woollen manufacturing. It formed the basis of a world-wide export trade which during the second half of the 19th century propelled the villages of the Teify Valley - Llandysul, Pentre-cwrt, Henllan, Drefach and Newcastle Emlyn, to become the main centres of woollen manufacturing in Wales.
Of the hundreds of rural mills across Wales in the 19th century, only 70 were recorded by the late 1970's and today only a handful remain.
Surrounded by this legacy and blessed with these remaining few working mills, Blodwen has created two stunning collections of new and vintage textiles.
All our new blankets are based on original cloths, all lovingly recreated and woven at our local 150 year old mill. The Vintage Collection comprises not only rare and unique pieces, but offers fragments of the social and economic history of the Teifi Valley during the early 18th and 19th centuries.
